Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
‭‭- Luke‬ ‭11:28‬

Here we see Jesus reiterating what we just read in the Old Testament. We must put in to practice what we here. Another version uses the word OBEY. It’s pretty simple: if you obey God you will be blessed. That seems simple enough, yet still most people still don’t get it. Our human nature tries as hard as it can to find every loophole to get out of having to obey God. When we do obey, it’s often out of guilt. However, we should obey God because we trust Him and we understand it’s the best way to be blessed!

Examine your life. Would you say you’re obeying the commands of Christ? Are you a hearer only? It’s never too late to become a doer! Start by obeying what you already know He wants you to do. Then start reading and praying, asking God to show you more commands from His word. Also, keep your spiritual ears open for God to give you some commands that are personal to you! Then, of course, you must obey them! And if you mess up, and you will, no problem. Just repent and keep going. The road to successfully obeying God with your life is paved with failure.

What do you need to do to obey God more fully today?
