Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

“a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.”
-Proverbs 6:19

Our passage in proverbs tells us about a few of the things God hates. At the end of that list is “a person who sows discord in a family”. This is something God really hates. And if he hates it your family, how much do you think He hates it in His family?

Unity is a big deal to the Lord. Jesus would later say it this way, “blessed are the peaceMAKERS.” He hates it when people cause separation but loves it when they create unity and peace. In fact, Jesus finally prayer before being arrested was that his followers would be one. Think about everything you have and will do and say this week. Were you more of a “strife-spreader” or a “peacemaker”?

Even beyond this week, do you have a “strife-spreader” attitude or mindset or do you have a “peacemaker” attitude or mindset? Peacemakers are constantly coming up with solutions to bring people together. Strife-spreaders are constantly making excuses for why people are apart. Those excuses make people feel better about their disunity while a peacemaker doesn’t accept such excuses and works to break them down.

Which one sounds more like you? Are you a peacemaker or a strife-spreader?
