Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.
– Matthew 25:15

Here Jesus shares the parable of the talents. Notice how the master in this story decides who gets what – it’s based on their ability. Today, that seems like an unthinkable idea. How dare Jesus not give to everyone fairly and equally? Who is He to judge? (He is THE Judge actually) The question is, do we trust God’s assessment of our abilities?

The truth is, like it or not, we are all equal in value, but we aren’t all equal in ability. We have to come to terms with that. Some people want 5 talent opportunities but only have 2 talent ability. They aren’t willing to recognize their areas of weakness and then grow through them. Others believe God is asking too much of them and so they bail on the process all together. Trust that God knows what you can do and has put you in a place that, with a little faith and faithfulness, you’ll be able to create a great harvest! Don’t fret over your lack of ability or your lack of opportunity. Trust God Who is rich in both!

Do you feel like you are living up to your full potential? What can you do to increase you talents (abilities)?
