Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained.
– Genesis 39:20

Joseph’s life is a convicting story for all of us. First, his brothers sell him into slavery. Then, after thriving as a slave, he gets thrown into prison for no fault of his own. Finally, after helping one of Pharaoh’s officials get released, the official completely forgets about helping him get released! Now, let’s complain about our lives, am I right?

Talk about an unfair life. Life doesn’t seem fair at times for us either, but just like Joseph remained optimistic and faithful to the Lord, we must strive to do the same. We can trust that whatever pit, slavery, or prison we are in, God is just setting us up to bring Him glory! So the next time life hands you lemons, you try to make lemonade, someone takes that lemonade and forgets to help you like they said would… when you’re having one those kind of days… Remember Joseph. Remember that God sees you and your faithfulness. He will be faithful to you like He was to Joseph and carry your from your current pit to your future purpose. So, focus on being faithful in the prison and the Lord will get you to the palace.
