Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.
– Matthew 13:58

At the end of Matthew 13 we see a startling idea. Jesus, who is God in the flesh, is unable to do miracles in His home town. Did you catch that? Jesus wanted to do something, but He was UNABLE TO DO IT. That’s crazy to me. I always think of Jesus as being able to do anything, but not so on this occasion. So what was powerful enough to stop Jesus? Their unbelief.

Unbelief seems to be the kryptonite that stops miracles in their tracks. Stories like this should force us to take a look at our own lives. Is unbelief in any area of your life keeping God from healing you or doing something amazing in you or through you? Unsure? Ask God to expose and help your unbelief.

DISCLAIMER: Just because you have not been healed or have not seen the answer to a prayer, doesn’t mean you dealing with unbelief. There are many factors to consider when our prayers seem to go unanswered, so don’t beat yourself up. Don’t make the possibility of unbelief in your life stress you out or depress you. Allow it to push you closer to the Lord and trust Him even when the miracles aren’t coming like you would prefer them to.
