Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?
– Psalm 22:1

In Psalm 22 we see an agonizing prayer that Jesus Himself would repeat on the cross. “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Have you ever felt abandoned by God? Left all alone? You’re not alone. Jesus Himself felt the separation from God the Father that we feel, and He for one wanted to call God out for it.

Here is one of the great things about our God: your honesty doesn’t hurt His feelings. In fact, He would rather you be honest. So it doesn’t upset Him when your prayer is more like, “God, what is going on?!” then, “God, I trust you.” When you pray today, be honest with God about how you feel about what you’re praying about, and even how you feel about Him. He may just respond and change your heart!

What have you been feeling that you’re afraid to tell God?
