Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.
– Matthew 18:19

Jesus tells some powerful things in today’s passage in Matthew. Here is one of the big ones: where two or more are gathered together, He is in their midst. But not only that, whatever that gathering agreed upon in prayer, that thing will happen! Wow! What a promise! But, sadly, this practice isn’t really carried out that often in most American believer’s lives these days.

The closest most may come to this may be going to the altar and praying with someone. That’s a good start. But this is speaking of a whole gathering of believers who have come together for one purpose, to seek God for the same thing. These believers come to the same conclusion through prayer and then, partnering with the Holy Spirit, go to the Lord in prayer together to ask for it. That atmosphere can be tough to come by, but it is most powerful!

I have seen this happen over issues like major elections or over traumatic situation like a terminally sick child or someone in a car wreck. But why wait for something to go wrong to exercise this prayer promise? Gather together with a few believers when you need a breakthrough with your kids. What about when you need favor at work or a new job? Gather! Need financial breakthrough? Gather! Anytime you’re needing a breakthrough, trust God at His word and gather!

What do you need to get some believers to gather together in prayer over?
